Anyway, funny stuff, as always ๐
There’s a bit more to it than the 0.0% headline, but joyous news nevertheless.
The story is two years old: from January 2016.
Well, Jerry, that’s a good 1300 years more current than our heroes’ usual sources, so I’ll settle for it
According to the original story “77.7% of those between 25 and 44 years old believed the world had been created in the big bang”.
This is just not the case. The world came into existence millions of years after the big bang…
Canneloni:
Make that BILLions! (Just about 10 of those)
I know nothing about if there is a pedophilia problem in Islamic institutions as is found in the Roman Catholic Church and some other Christian denominations, but I gotta wonder about Jesus’ comment about “catching them young” Is that why so much pedophilia happens in religious circles?
There’s nothing like some jihad
To make a dude really bad
Those who then convert
Are an insufferable jerk
Foaming at the mouth and barking mad
Anonymous:
Well, in Islam 9 years is mature enough (recently re-confirmed by various islamic scholars), so, paedophilia only applies to ages below that.
Certainly not an absolut limit, but it DOES a lot to bring down the number of occurrences by Western standards….
Whether its just the old Geysers in Iceland that largely believe in God most of them believe in Elves, Trolls and Huldufolk.
Call me naive, but those guys aren’t wearing pajama tops.
Old habits die hard with Christianity and Islam.
Unfortunately, so do people who disagree with them.
@Canneloni & Dr. John: The word “world” can also mean “cosmos”/”universe”, not just “planet earth” or “a planet”.
@Noreligion2: Are you sure it’s just the tops? ^_^
@Someone: What’s unfortunate about that?
@FreeFox, Re your last question. I would think the point hardly is unfortunate for the regular audience at J&M. But if the the implicit allusion became exposed to the “hurt religious feelings”-brigades………. Well I’m sure you can imagine a few unfortunate outcomes.
It’s just the tops.

@author: Maybe they liked it? Wouldn’t be the first time they built on a, er, foundation laid by Moses, now, would it? ^_^
@FreeFox: Actually, I was referring to those who disagree with the habits of Christians and Muslims (namely people like us), of whom are summarily killed by extremists of the aforementioned faiths.
I’d say that’s pretty bad.
@Someone: But unless my English language skills deserted me, what you said was that it’s unfortunate that people who disagree with Christians and Muslims die hard. As if it were better if we died easily.
(Also, yes, I too mostly disagree with Christians and Muslims, if often for somewhat different reasons than my usual sparring partners here in the Cock & Bull.)
To anonymous, knowing nothing about islamic paedophilia:
Their prophet “married” a 5 (five) year old girl and raped her at 9 (nine).
How’s that for paedophelia?
Herman:
“nine” is disputable.
The islamic year is 12 moons, equal 12 * (~) 29.5 days. Nine of those years are about 8.7 solar years….
@author
.
he says they “usually” keep their boxers on. That leads me to believe that sometimes they don’t.
.
but you likely are more familiar with their attire than I so I will defer to your expertise
@FreeFox, your English skills haven’t deserted you.
Mine on the other hand appear to have let me slip on a banana peel for the sake of a witticism.
I suppose in my mind the fact that detractors perish at the hands of extremists (often in nasty fashion) made the link appropriate, forgetting what the metaphor of dying hard generally means.
Oh well.
