Author’s comment is not a joke.

  2. Eske Rahn says:

So we are back to the discussion on
    Most Zionists are Jews
Most Jews are Semites (if you accept that racial term)
But anti-Zionism is NOT the same as being anti-Semitic.

It would be like equalling anti-Nazi with anti-European.

    Two β€œare’s” in panel 3 πŸ™‚

  4. mcalex says:

This has always confused me. Aren’t ‘Semites’ descendants of Shem? And doesn’t that cover basically the entire middle east?

  5. paradoctor says:

Let’s retire the term ‘anti-Semite’. If you accept 19th-century racial pseudo-science, then it mean opposition to Arabs too. Instead let’s use the more precise and accurate term ‘Jew-hatred’, or ‘Judeophobia’, to echo ‘Islamophobia’.

  6. hotrats says:

MarkyWarky: a textbook example of a proofreading test.
‘Paris in the / the Spring’ er, springs to mind.

  7. M27Holts says:

    Roundheadophobia?

  8. usmagrad87 says:

Some of the most extremist Zionists are Christian Zionists. Believing that the restoration of Isreal plays a crucial role in the end times. The British history of support for Israel goes back to Christian Zionists like David Lloyd Geroge and Author Balfour. https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/britain-zionism-and-the-creation-of-israel/

  9. MrGronk says:

Ah, the logic of the global intifada – the notion that if jews find the idea of a harrassment-free space attractive, then it’s fine to harrass them till they change their minds.

  10. Rrr says:

MarkyWarky: Yeah, so what? There’s three are’s in my handle. It’s fine.

  11. tisthequestion says:

We seldom hear of the other prophets. Not very inclusive of Mo, is it? If Mo is the last prophet, then what type of messengers come after the prophets? The word may be perfect, but the humans receiving it are not, so would there not be new interpreters needed for new groups of people in new times?

  12. postdoggerel says:

usmagrad87, thanks for the link. No joke. But for the low information voter, of which there are many here in the USA, something like this might work better β€” https://www.facebook.com/reel/1442183779798716

  13. postdoggerel says:

usmagrad87, again, thanks for the link. I feel ashamed for making light of the serious events taking place today. The wealth of studies seems beyond my capacity to absorb, let alone dispute. So here is another link, found serendipitously, to boggle the minds of those who never cared enough to seek out information on the horrible destruction taking place in the middle east. The powers that be all seem to be powerless to stop the carnage, much to our chagrin in the USA, where those events may lead to the election of an ignoramus who appeals only to the low-information voters here. What I found interesting in this presentation, as with the link you supplied, was the discrepancy between biblical and archeological knowledge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQk41nLuhGA

In case I have made myself appear to be a fence-sitter, let me say that in half an hour, I was convinced of the morality involved in this problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqK3_n6pdDY

  15. Donn Cave says:

I gave up on that after a few minutes, not being accustomed to TV watching, so I don’t have a clue what you were convinced of. No matter.

I just wanted to suggest that “the morality” is itself a large part of the problem.

What the region needs is to move away from the repressive/aggressive pattern modeled by Syria and Iran, and toward the member-of the-modern-world-community pattern. Hamas sprang into action partly to disrupt progress in that direction between Israel and Saudi Arabia, as they have done in the past, and Netanyahu and his right wing religious zealot backers care little for this progress anyway. Both parties feed on “the morality”, they can gorge on it with no contradiction, because there’s plenty of “morality” to go around, something for everyone.

When it comes to whether the moral right shall win, or instead we could see progress towards less conflict and repression, then let’s always choose the latter.

  16. misterexist says:

Jewish person here. Also an anti-zionist that is disgusted at the current Israeli administration’s campaign of genocide against Palestinians. No matter how many Jews are zionists, that does not render the ideology itself free from critique.

This is a strange argument, as one can be a zionist without personally committing genocide, yet they are complicit in it through their participation in the ideology. I hope that parsing makes sense.

An analogy would be a Third Reich-Era Nazi who hasn’t personally murdered anyone, yet is complicit in murder by participating in the ideology.
