But the Baháʼí are OK… aren’t they?

  2. mcalex says:

@author there may be an extra ‘T’ in panel 2

  3. Donn Cave says:

Well, to be fair … it kind of depends on the definition of racism. There is something there that people hate and fear, but it isn’t really theological, is it? Islam isn’t what created the problem, any more than Christianity created a superior alternative. Islamophobia is basically about a cultural group – not really racial, hence the definition problem, because we sure do sometimes consider racism in terms of identifiable cultural differences. Yeah, sure, Islam reinforces the destructive traits of that culture, but what’s the odds it would have come out that way? About 100%.

  4. John Hart says:

There’s also a missing “is” in panel 2. But thank you for pointing me in the direction of the Ahmadia Muslims. Moderate, preaching love, integrated into the modern world…I can see why they’re so persecuted by the mainstream.

  5. Author says:

Thanks, mcalex. Fixed the extra T.

  6. Author says:

You’re right, John H. Thanks. Will fix tomorrow. A colon will have to do in the meantime!

  7. E.A. Blair says:

Northern Conservative Baptists Great Lakes Region Council of 1895 or Northern Conservative Baptists Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?

  8. M27Holts says:

Voltaires Razor applies to that sect of Islam as much as any other..

  9. Forteatwo says:

Voltaire’s Razor? Could you elaborate on that.

  10. M27Holts says:

Those who can be made to believe in Absurdities can be made to.perform atrocities…

  11. Rrr says:

M27, I was not convinced that is particularly Voltaire’s razor.
But if you say so I believe you, however preposterous the notion may be.
    Beware …

  12. M27Holts says:

Actually it is a reciprocal razor is it not?

  13. M27Holts says:

How many more Trumped up Assasination plots will there be?

  14. M27Holts says:

Anybody who has an invisible friend that talks in their head is potentially a dangerous lunatic…M27’s statement of gge month…

  15. postdoggerel says:

How many more Trumped up Assasination plots will there be? Think Caligula.

  16. M27Holts says:

I see the Arch spunk womble of cunterbury is under attack for allowing a serious child abuser to continue his abuse till his death. He would have died a lot earlier if he had tried to cane my adolescent arse…

  17. Mockingbird says:

The Arch Bishop of Bullshit must go.

  18. M27Holts says:

    He’s gone….

  19. Mockingbird says:

Now he can poke his big gold hat right up where the sun don’t shine.

Whoever becomes the new Archbishop Canterbury will face the same problems that Welby did. In recent years, in response to rapidly dwindling congregations, the C of E has become much more reflective of the community it serves, embracing LGBTQ rights (to the point of offering blessings but not solemnising marriage) and female priests.

This has not gone down well in the wider Anglican Communion, numbering in the tens of millions, mostly in the West Indies and central Africa. There, the Church’s traditional misogyny and homophobia, in many cases stoked by evangelicals from the USA, is part of the appeal of the brand, to the extent that African bishops boycotted the last Lambeth Conference.

This year alone, six states (Kenya, Ghana, Namibia, Niger, Tanzania and Uganda) have taken steps to tighten their anti-homosexuality laws, mainly to include gay women and to deny healthcare.

The Church of England may have to split from its own worldwide congregation in order to survive.
