I would like to see a version of the holy books where content, that their followers would ban from schools in other publications, was redacted for being too violent, sexual or inciting hatred. Stand by the entirety of scripture, or bin the lot. It’s either the inerrant word of God or it isn’t.

What they are starting to recognize is that they get the usual lip service, people keep their mouth shut, and look to the West and deism or atheism for morality. Wonderful. @WalterWalcarpit and Darwin Harmless, as far as I can tell that is only true about the urban West Coast around Istanbul and Ankara. Out East things are still pretty medieval, even in the big cities. This country is currently splintering into two parts, with less and less spanning the chasm and holding things together. It is only the fact that one side is willing to use any form of deception and violence necessary to win and the other is still playing by the Marquess of Queensberry Rules that there probably won’t be a civil war but the bad guys are simply going to win and those that can afford it will get out. That article is way more optimistic than I am.
I’ve always hated Pell. I first learned who he was 18 years ago and immediately had the impression he was a self-righteous asshole.
