  1. Eske Rahn says:

Could we please keep criticizing politicians – no matter my personal feelings against the one in question – out of criticizing religion…

And even criticizing should have a level of decency – including towards opponents.

  2. M27Holts says:

Think it is valid to attack Trump with every tool available…

  3. Eske Rahn says:

Verbal attacks of any kind is acceptable.
But suggesting that one mad man shooting at another mad man should not have missed, isn’t IMHO.

There is a big step between not wanting a mad man as a president and wishing him dead….

  4. Myrhinne says:

I read it as Mo suggesting Trump deserves to die for being a godless infidel rather than Author wishing Trump had been killed. The point is that Jesus thinks God saved Trump but if Trump had died, Mo would be claiming it as God’s will. It’s a satire on religious people claiming divine intervention when it suits them but ignoring all the times God doesn’t intervene.

Incidentally, anyone claiming God saved Trump must also believe God considered the man who was killed to be not worth saving.

  5. Tomas says:

Noone (here) is wishing anyone dead. Apart from Mo’s god, possibly. And we all know how real she is…

  6. Anonymous says:

    You’re absolute best!!!

  7. BRoger222 says:

We might assume that the words expressed by the characters are reasonably consistent with their words and behavior as illustrated in their respective “sacred books” and related documents. If Jesus existed and if, as is claimed, he endorsed the “Old Testament” and his “Father” (the Old Testament God), then he might readily refer to dozens of examples of genocide, infanticide, and assorted acts of torture and murder. For instance, in Samuel 15:3 God commands Saul to “Go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.” Here’s another (Hosea 13:16): “Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.” Similarly, the Quran contains the famous “sword verse” which serves to justify all sorts of murderous acts. Surah 9:5 “When the Sacred Months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them. And capture them, and besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every ambush. But if they repent, and perform the prayers, and pay the alms, then let them go their way. God is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

The comic is about projecting human wishes onto one’s god of choice. Jesus and Mo do just that.

  8. Badstephen says:

Yep, I guess the joke is the way the two guys’ project their different wishes onto God. But there’s something about this one that leaves a bad taste. Perhaps if Jesus had the last word in the final frame, the joke would have been clearer?

  10. paradoctor says:

If God saved Trump’s life, then maybe it was to ensure that Trump will live to see defeat, dishonor, bankruptcy, conviction, and long imprisonment for his many crimes and sins.

  11. Mous says:

Folks: god had nothing to do with it. He was at my house at the time & the first we heard about it was on the news.

  12. Shaughn says:

Of course we cannot wish someone’s death, but sure we may wish for his achieving gods blessed presence and salvation in heaven, asap? Nothing but good, isn’t it?

  13. M27Holts says:

YO Roger…TOO many extreme violence excerpts from the old testament and the Quran to list unfortunately…

  14. BirdsofBmore says:

Here is how I choose to see god’s hand in this. god made the shooter miss so the Orange one will lose to a black woman, then have to face justice for the crimes charged against him. god said, no, you can not leave just yet, I have other plans for you big guy.

  15. Mockingbird says:

Please don’t accuse Vincent Van Trump of being a politician.

  16. hotrats says:

Isn’t it ironic that the future of the Republican Party was effectively decided by bad marksmanship?

  17. Mockingbird says:

Hotrats: Love it ! That really hit the spot. (No pun intended)

  18. Chris Phoenix says:

God doesn’t like it when you anthropomorphize him.

  19. M27Holts says:

    ^ How do you know?

  20. Donn says:

I thought it seemed like a pretty weird take. God is interested in politics and intervenes when it’s in his interest? OK, that’s weird, but so is the whole God thing. The priests have the story, take it or leave it.

But wait – is God omnipotent? If he just want that unsavory dick to stay alive, he didn’t need to pull some tricky stunt like deflecting a bullet. Just keep the kid home, make him miss the bus or whatever. Skip the carnage, I mean, does God care about the others who caught bullets? It’s a cr

  21. Donn says:

See!? I was typing “It’s a crock” (that might be a US English expression) and God deflected my input, which is pretty easy to do with this “noisy” Thinkpad trackpad device.

But that’s all he can do? Ha ha, nothing like the old days is it, Yah ha ha weh? You could lay some waste, according to the stories. Punk.

  22. M27Holts says:

We have a multiple stabbing in Southport, and I nearly smashed my telly up watching the Media wheeling in clerics spouting their puerile nonsense. The sooner these goons can be de-platformed the better…
